Free Workshop Trees Under the Hood How Trees work!

The City of Morenci invites residents to attend Trees “Under the Hood”: How Trees Work!, a free community education session on Saturday, May 9, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Stair District Library.

The workshop is designed to help participants better understand the trees that shape our neighborhoods and public spaces and will be led by Board Certified Master Arborist Steve Lane, who brings more than 20 years of experience in Arboriculture and Urban Forestry and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the International Society of Arboriculture.

Participants will learn how to identify local tree species, understand how trees grow and develop, explore the benefits of proper tree pruning, gain insight into how soil supports tree health, and take a deeper look at effective tree watering practices.

The session will also include a guided tree walk around Morenci, giving attendees the opportunity to see these concepts in action and learn more about the community’s urban forest firsthand.

This workshop is a great opportunity for residents interested in becoming more involved as local Tree Stewards, helping care for and advocate for Morenci’s trees and green spaces. All ages are welcome to attend.

Residents can register by stopping by City Hall or by completing the online form here.

Funding for this project is provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service through the Urban and Community Forestry Program, in partnership with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. The City of Morenci, USDA Forest Service, and Michigan Department of Natural Resources are equal opportunity providers.
