Bus with bus driver

Morenci Area Schools is excited to announce the arrival of two new 2026 International school buses, made possible through the 0-mill bond proposal approved by voters in May 2025. This investment reflects the community’s continued devotion to student safety, reliability, and responsible stewardship of district resources.

The two new buses replace aging vehicles in the district’s fleet and provide upgraded safety features, improved comfort, and long-term reliability for students and drivers.

Each 2026 International bus seats 77 passengers and is equipped with a diesel engine. The buses offer advanced safety upgrades, including:

  • Side-mounted cameras to monitor red-light runners

  • LED lighting for increased visibility

  • An additional rear stop sign

  • A flashing LED sign on the back door to heighten visibility during student drop-offs

Inside, students and drivers will notice a modern interior design, improved heating, and air ride suspension to provide a smoother, more comfortable ride.

The total cost for both buses was $213,198 and includes a five-year warranty, ensuring dependable transportation for years to come.

“These new buses provide a safer and smoother ride for our students,” said Nick Wilson, Transportation Supervisor. “Our drivers and students love the new buses. We’re grateful to our community for supporting this important investment.”

Morenci Area Schools continues to be committed to ensuring safe, reliable transportation while continuing to “Unleash Your Potential” for every student who walks through its doors.
