As part of its ongoing commitment to student and staff safety, Morenci Area Schools recently offered CPR certification training to all employees, supported by a grant from John Dillon. The initiative reflects the district’s proactive approach to ensuring that schools remain safe, prepared, and responsive in the event of an emergency.
Staff members from across the district completed the hands-on training, gaining lifesaving skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency response. The opportunity was made possible through a grant from John Dillon that allowed the district to provide the course.
“We pursued this training because the safety and well-being of our students and staff must always come first,” said Superintendent Jennifer Ellis or Nurse. “Having trained adults not only in every building but on the bus as well increases our ability to respond quickly and confidently if an emergency were to occur.”
The CPR training complements the district’s existing safety measures, including Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) located throughout school facilities. Together, these resources strengthen Morenci Area Schools’ readiness to assist students, staff, and visitors during critical situations.
Participants shared that their motivation to complete the course came from a deep sense of care and responsibility for the children they serve each day. Many expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn skills that could one day save a life.
Morenci Area Schools remains dedicated to fostering a safe learning environment and will continue to seek opportunities that support the health, security, and success of the entire school community.
