Welcome to Morenci Area Schools!

Morenci Area Schools in cooperation with the State of Michigan requires the following to be in each student’s file:

  1. A copy of the student’s original certified birth record not a hospital record. The original birth certificate, usually located at a County Courthouse County Clerk’s office, must be presented at time of registration and a copy will be made for the school file.

  2. Proof of up-to-date immunizations or a signed waiver from the Health Department. These immunizations include any updated requirements by the State of Michigan and must be presented at time of registration.

  3. Proof of Michigan residency such as a utility bill, mortgage document, and approval of School of Choice document, rental contract or property tax document. A driver’s license is not acceptable. In some cases it may be necessary to complete an Affidavit of Residency which is required to be notarized.

  4. Custody papers or legal guardian papers if the student does not live with both natural parents. This is for your child’s protection. If we do not have this documentation, then by Michigan law, each parent has equal access to the child.

  5. Proof of vision and hearing testing before entering school for the first time (preschool or kindergarten). State law requires these tests, which are given free, of charge at the Lenawee County Health Department by appointment. Call 517- 264-5226.

It is the parents/guardian’s responsibility to provide the school with all of the above information. Please do your best to see that we have everything we need for your child’s file for the school year.
