As you may recall from my October newsletter, Morenci Area School has established a Safety Council to ensure that our emergency protocols are up-to-date, thorough, and aligned with the latest industry standards. The Safety Council is working closely with ACAP Solutions to conduct a comprehensive safety assessment. The first meeting was held on October 25, 2023, from 4-5:00 p.m. The purpose of the meeting was to provide an overview of ACAP and the safety assessment, gather input regarding our greatest safety concerns for the district, provide updates on current safety initiatives, and discuss safety council goals. The Safety Council is comprised of school administrators, local law enforcement, first responders, and department directors.
A focus group that consists of staff, parents, and community members will be held on January 23, 2024, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The purpose will be to gather perceptions around school safety and hear any safety concerns or priorities.
