🫀 Students in Mr. Boesger’s Human Anatomy class are getting hands-on experience exploring the structure and function of the heart by dissecting sheep and cow hearts. Through this lab activity, students learn about the heart's chambers, valves, and major vessels while making real-world connections to human anatomy and physiology. It’s a great example of interactive learning in action!

🍕🎨 Our 2nd grade artists have been hard at work! Students combined art and history while learning all about pizza. They explored how pizza first began, how it made its way to America, and how the Lombardi family opened the first pizzeria in New York in 1905.

Students then put their creativity to work by using form, shape, texture, and space to design their own pizzas with their favorite toppings. Great job, Bulldogs! 🍕👏

On May 2, 2026, the 17-member Morenci symphonic band travels to Michigan to perform at the 2026 MSBOA state band and orchestra festival. They qualified for the state festival by earning a blue medal and a Division I rating at the district festival in March.
The band performed a piece entitled “Air for Band” by Frank Erickson and “Reflections On A New Tomorrow by Robert Sheldon. After they performed, the band enjoyed a clinic with Dr. Ingle from Calvin College.
Once the festival concluded, the band got to go to lunch at Fred’s Italian restaurant in North Grand Rapids and then travel to Woodrose duckpin bowling alley in downtown Grand Rapids, where they got to participate in duckpin bowling for two hours. All in all, it was a great trip. Students have accomplished quite a lot this year and should be very proud of themselves. We are proud of them too.

🎉🌮 Congratulations to Allison Jimenez and Madelyn, Barnhart the winners of the Rock-yo-Taco mascot contest! We are excited to celebrate their creativity and amazing artwork as the selected winners for Morenci Area Schools. Their designs did a fantastic job showcasing Bulldog creativity and school spirit! 🐾

Middle School and High School students were invited to create artwork featuring the new mascot, “Rollo the Burrito,” and the community casted their votes on the Rock-yo-Taco Facebook page to help choose the winners.

A special thank you to Mr. Pratt and Rock-yo-Taco for providing this fun opportunity for our students to share their talents with the community!

Students in Ms. Weaver's class recently experienced an engaging, hands-on science project as they observed eggs develop and hatch into chicks right in the classroom.

Throughout the process, students learned about life cycles, basic biology, and the responsibility of caring for living things. They tracked progress, recorded observations, and made predictions, integrating reading, writing, and math along the way.

The excitement peaked as chicks began to hatch, and students have loved sharing their knowledge and showcasing the chicks to others. This project sparked curiosity while teaching patience, responsibility, and real-world connections to learning.

🌱🔬 Science Hit the Road at Morenci Elementary! 🔬🌱

This week, learning rolled right into our parking lot as the Farm Science Lab made a stop at Morenci Area Schools! 🚜✨
Inside the 40-foot mobile classroom, students engaged in hands-on STEM activities, interactive experiments, and real-world lessons that connect science, technology, and agriculture. From discovering how food is grown to seeing science in action, students were fully engaged every step of the way! 🌾🧪

The Farm Science Lab turned an ordinary school day into an unforgettable learning adventure without students ever leaving campus. A big thank you to the team for providing such an exciting opportunity for our Bulldogs! 🐾❤️

🍃 Mindfulness in Action at Morenci! 🍃
Our 5th-grade students recently explored Social Emotional Learning (SEL) through a hands-on, calming activity—creating nature mandalas.

Using materials such as leaves, petals, stones, and sticks, students designed beautiful circular patterns while practicing mindfulness, focus, and creative expression in nature. 🌿

This activity not only sparked creativity but also helped students slow down, reflect, and connect with the world around them—an important part of the Bulldog Way.

💬 Ask your student: What did your mandala represent?

Our 4th-grade students recently got a hands-on look at the world of welding! 🔧

They learned about different career opportunities in welding and then put their skills to the test. With sunglasses on and playdough in hand, students practiced creating their own “welds” before trying out a welding simulation.

It was a fun and interactive experience—and who knows, we may have some future welders in this group!

📚✨ Mystery Reader Surprise! ✨📚

Our students had a fun surprise during Mystery Reader when they discovered the reader was our very own first-grade teacher, Ms. Hoffman, and a published author!

Ms. Hoffman shared her children’s book “I Won’t Eat Broccoli! I Won’t, I Won’t!” with students, and they loved hearing the story read by the author herself. We are so proud of Ms. Hoffman and excited to celebrate this wonderful accomplishment within our Morenci Elementary family. 💙🤍

Her book is available on Amazon if you’d like to grab a copy for your family!

The 8th-grade class had the opportunity to visit the Holocaust Pop-Up Museum in downtown Adrian. Students learned about the Holocaust, World War II, and important pieces of local history. This experience connects directly to what they are currently studying in history about civil disobedience and reform movements, and it will also support their upcoming literature unit in English class. It was a meaningful day of learning, reflection, and connection between the past and the topics we are exploring in the classroom.
