Here’s a polished, engaging version that keeps it fun and readable:
---
Our 4th-grade students recently got a hands-on look at the world of welding! 🔧
They learned about different career opportunities in welding and then put their skills to the test. With sunglasses on and playdough in hand, students practiced creating their own “welds” before trying out a welding simulation.
It was a fun and interactive experience—and who knows, we may have some future welders in this group!

📚✨ Mystery Reader Surprise! ✨📚
Our students had a fun surprise during Mystery Reader when they discovered the reader was our very own first-grade teacher, Ms. Hoffman, and a published author!
Ms. Hoffman shared her children’s book “I Won’t Eat Broccoli! I Won’t, I Won’t!” with students, and they loved hearing the story read by the author herself. We are so proud of Ms. Hoffman and excited to celebrate this wonderful accomplishment within our Morenci Elementary family. 💙🤍
Her book is available on Amazon if you’d like to grab a copy for your family!

The 8th-grade class had the opportunity to visit the Holocaust Pop-Up Museum in downtown Adrian. Students learned about the Holocaust, World War II, and important pieces of local history. This experience connects directly to what they are currently studying in history about civil disobedience and reform movements, and it will also support their upcoming literature unit in English class. It was a meaningful day of learning, reflection, and connection between the past and the topics we are exploring in the classroom.

Morenci Area Schools’ 5th-grade Science Olympiad team captured 1st place overall out of 12 schools at the Tri-County Science Olympiad, showcasing their knowledge, creativity, and engineering skills.
Students began preparing in January, practicing a couple of days a week after school. Morenci competitors placed in seven of the eight events, earning multiple top finishes.
Top results included 1st place in Ping Pong Propulsion (Honor Erskin and Owen Apger), where students designed a device to launch ping pong balls at a target; 1st place in Reach for the Sky (Owen Apger and Madelyn Timberman), a solar system knowledge competition; and 1st place in Michigan Spiders (Junior Bussell and Paisley McMunn). Additional placements included 3rd in Ologies (Madelyn Timberman and Paisley McMunn) and 5th-place finishes in Tower Challenge (Honor Erskin and Audrey Klinger), Load Masters (Jaxson Johnson and Ben Schell), and Nerves Do What (Ben Schell and Paisley McMunn).
Coach Andi Rorick praised the team’s dedication and teamwork throughout the season.
“Our motto was, ‘Work hard, play hard,’ and the students truly lived that out. Seeing the upper elementary cheering as they brought home the trophy was an unforgettable moment.”
Morenci’s younger teams also had strong showings. The 3rd-grade team placed 1st in Wing Wonders (Cassius Craig and Ezri Hall), while the 4th-grade team earned several top finishes, including 4th-place in Tower Tycoon (Amelia Gehring and Brayden Scivoletto).
Morenci Area Schools also thanked coaches Taylor Curtis, Jennifer Rohde, and Andi Rorick, along with volunteer Rebecca Cox, whose support helped guide the students to success.

Our 5th-grade STEAM class was inspired by our read-aloud, Ada’s Violin—the true story of the Recycled Orchestra of Paraguay! 🎻♻️
Students are now designing and building their own violin prototypes, putting their creativity and engineering skills to work.
A BIG thank you to the Lenawee County Education Foundation for helping us add new Chomp Saws to our STEAM room—another great tool for our Bulldogs to create and explore as they Unleash Their Potential. 💙🐶

Mr. Moore’s Modern American History students stepped back into the Roaring 1920s! 🎡 Each group designed a themed 1920s amusement park, becoming experts on different parts of 1920s life—from fashion and music to culture and innovation. They created rides, restaurants, and attractions to match their theme and wrapped it all up with written explanations to show their thinking.

Our Anatomy students participated in a hands-on sheep dissection lab. Through careful observation and guided instruction, students examined organ systems and made real-world connections to their studies.
Experiences like this build scientific inquiry skills and prepare students for future careers in health and science fields.

Mrs. Bernath brought learning to life in our GSRP preschool program! 🌿She introduced a variety of spices, and our students had the chance to smell each one and guess what they were. What a fun, hands-on sensory experience for our kiddos!
Exploring through sight, smell, and curiosity makes learning even more exciting. Way to go, Bulldogs! 🐾
