Our elementary students recently enjoyed a fun and engaging assembly to kick off the Stair District Library Summer Reading Program! 📚☀️
Following the assembly, students took a field trip to the library, where Ms. Leddy shared a story, and each class participated in a hands-on activity. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to explore their local library and get excited about reading all summer long.
We are fortunate to have such a great resource right here in our community, and we encourage families to take advantage of this free summer program. We hope to see many of our Bulldogs participating in the fun, learning, and adventures that await at the Stair District Library this summer! #BulldogPride #SummerReading #MorenciBulldogs #CommunityConnections 📖🐾

Congratulations to seven of our middle school students who earned a special walking field trip for collecting 40 or more Bulldog Bones this school year!
These students have consistently demonstrated the Bulldog Way through Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, and Excellence, and their hard work paid off with a fun day exploring local landmarks around Morenci and enjoying lunch at Subway.
We are proud of these students for setting a positive example and showing what it means to be a Morenci Bulldog every day. Keep up the great work! ❤️🤍

Lots of great math conversations happening in 8th grade! 📐
Students teamed up for a partner quiz, talking through their thinking and debating the best ways to set up and solve Pythagorean Theorem problems. It was awesome to see them collaborating, explaining their reasoning, and learning from one another along the way!

This past Friday, our elementary students enjoyed an afternoon filled with bounce houses, yard games, laughter, and fun as we recognized their commitment to the Three R's: Respectful, Responsible, and Resilient.
We are proud of the positive choices our students have made throughout the year and the way they continue to demonstrate these important values each day. Thank you to our staff and volunteers for helping make this celebration memorable!

Last Thursday, our kindergarten graduates received a very special surprise! ❤️🎓
After designing their own monsters earlier this spring, each kindergartener received a custom-made stuffie made by one of our 8th graders. Our 8th grade students spent weeks sewing and bringing the kindergarteners' imaginative drawings to life.
The smiles on graduation day said it all! We are so proud of our 8th graders for helping create such a memorable experience for our youngest students.

⚡️ Our fourth-grade students recently welcomed representatives from Midwest Energy & Communications (MEC), who visited to teach them about electricity and electrical safety. Each student received an educational booklet, participated in a safety lesson, and learned about an exciting poster contest opportunity.
We are proud to announce that Owen Edwards was selected as Morenci's first-place winner, and his poster is now advancing to the next level of competition, where it will compete against other winning entries from across the county for the chance to be featured on a billboard! Congratulations also to Brayden Scivoletto, who earned runner-up honors.
As part of the contest, the winning classroom received $500 in classroom supplies. In a wonderful display of teamwork and generosity, Mrs. Rohde and Mrs. Elliott chose to share the award, allowing all fourth-grade students to benefit. To celebrate, every fourth grader enjoyed a pizza party!
Congratulations to Owen, Brayden, Mrs. Rohde, Mrs. Elliott, and all of our fourth-grade students on their hard work and creativity.🎉⚡️🍕🏆

🧬🐊 Our biology students had an unforgettable experience during their visit to the Alligator Sanctuary in Coldwater, Michigan! Students had the opportunity to explore and learn about a variety of reptiles and exotic animals while making real-world connections to what they’ve been studying in class. Experiences like these help bring science to life and create lasting memories for our Bulldogs!

🔥 Things are heating up in Forensics! Students are continuing their exploration of fibers and textiles through a hands-on fiber burn test lab. During the investigation, students analyzed burn characteristics and examined the remaining ash of fiber samples, then used a dichotomous key to match their unknown sample to known fiber types. A great hands-on lesson in observation, analysis, and critical thinking! 🔍🧪

🫀 Students in Mr. Boesger’s Human Anatomy class are getting hands-on experience exploring the structure and function of the heart by dissecting sheep and cow hearts. Through this lab activity, students learn about the heart's chambers, valves, and major vessels while making real-world connections to human anatomy and physiology. It’s a great example of interactive learning in action!

🍕🎨 Our 2nd grade artists have been hard at work! Students combined art and history while learning all about pizza. They explored how pizza first began, how it made its way to America, and how the Lombardi family opened the first pizzeria in New York in 1905.
Students then put their creativity to work by using form, shape, texture, and space to design their own pizzas with their favorite toppings. Great job, Bulldogs! 🍕👏

On May 2, 2026, the 17-member Morenci symphonic band travels to Michigan to perform at the 2026 MSBOA state band and orchestra festival. They qualified for the state festival by earning a blue medal and a Division I rating at the district festival in March.
The band performed a piece entitled “Air for Band” by Frank Erickson and “Reflections On A New Tomorrow by Robert Sheldon. After they performed, the band enjoyed a clinic with Dr. Ingle from Calvin College.
Once the festival concluded, the band got to go to lunch at Fred’s Italian restaurant in North Grand Rapids and then travel to Woodrose duckpin bowling alley in downtown Grand Rapids, where they got to participate in duckpin bowling for two hours. All in all, it was a great trip. Students have accomplished quite a lot this year and should be very proud of themselves. We are proud of them too.
