We are thrilled to announce that Harrison Sarnac, one of our exceptional students and French horn players, has been accepted into the 2024 Michigan MSBOA Middle School All-State Honors Band! This prestigious accomplishment reflects Harrison's dedication, talent, and hard work in the field of music. The Michigan MSBOA All-State program, established in the 2005-06 school year, recognizes outstanding musical achievement among students across the state. The selection process is highly competitive, involving recorded auditions for five distinguished ensembles: a Middle School String Orchestra, a Middle School Band, a High School Full Orchestra, a High School Band, and a High School Jazz Ensemble. To earn a place in these ensembles, students like Harrison must demonstrate their musical prowess by preparing an announced etude, a series of scales, and participating in a sight-reading session during each 10-minute recorded audition. Impressively, each audition is submitted anonymously, identified only by a number, ensuring a fair and unbiased evaluation by expert adjudicators. It's worth noting the significance of this accomplishment, considering that approximately 2,500 students audition each year, vying for only 400 seats in the five ensembles. The process culminates in January when selected students gather for two and a half days of rehearsals led by nationally recognized conductors. The grand finale is a spectacular concert held on the Saturday of the Michigan Music Conference. Please join us in congratulating Harrison for his outstanding achievement and representing Morenci Area Schools at this esteemed musical event. We are incredibly proud of Harrison and his dedication to musical excellence.

Miss Stutzman's kindergartners completed a gourd observation activity. They drew a picture of how their gourd looked, described how it felt, and even estimated how high it was. Such an amazing way for them to learn basic skills! #morencibulldogs

๐ŸŽถLast Saturday, four students from our band program took part in Band Day at Siena Heights University. Gabriel Easler (trumpet), Alex Moore (trumpet), Harrison Sarnac (French horn), and Tessa Zuvers (clarinet) proudly represented the Morenci Area Schools Marching Band. Guided by SHU Band Director Dan Kesterke, these students showcased their talents during both the pregame performance and halftime show. It was an incredible opportunity to collaborate with fellow high school band members and the talented SHU Marching Band. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Kesterke and all the members of the SHU band for providing this exceptional experience!
