This week during our Second Step lesson, students practiced something we use every day in the classroom: how to get focused and ready to learn!
We talked about using our listening ears, watching the person who is talking, keeping our voices quiet, and calming our bodies when it’s time to listen and learn.
Students also tried "Focus Like an Owl,” a quick calming activity that helped them slow down, listen to the sounds around them, and get their minds and bodies ready to focus.
It was a fun way to practice an important classroom skill that we’ll keep using all year long! ❤️🐾

Our Bulldogs have been jumping, tossing, rolling, balancing, racing, and laughing their way through PE!
From Ice Cream Cone races and obstacle courses to Bean Bag Toss, Hula Hoop Roll, Clean Your Room, Steal the Bacon, and Protect the Pin, there was definitely no shortage of action! 😄
And while they were busy having FUN, they were also building some pretty awesome skills like balance, coordination, aim, teamwork, communication, and quick thinking.
Lots of movement + lots of laughs = a GREAT week in the gym! 🐾🙌

In honor of Patriot Day, our 2nd graders learned about the importance of helping others and recognizing the everyday heroes in our communities.
Students read This Very Tree and created a special craft while discussing what it means to be a hero, showing courage, kindness, and help in times of need.
It was a thoughtful, age-appropriate way to learn about kindness, courage, and caring for one another. ❤️🤍💙

Community member and Morenci alumna Ivy Hutchison stopped by Mrs. Hutchison’s 3rd-grade classroom to read The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds and share a fun lesson on shades and tints!
Inspired by the story’s message that creativity doesn’t have to be perfect, you just have to start, students chose one color and mixed it with black and white to create different shades and tints for their own dots.
The results were colorful, creative, and uniquely theirs! ❤️

Our first Bulldog VIP Day was a HUGE success last week! Each week, Mrs. Fink randomly draws 2–3 names from the Bulldog Bones that students have earned for making great choices and working hard at school.
And being a VIP comes with a pretty awesome perk, the winners get to bring a friend and enjoy a special activity with a staff member! ❤️
From having fun to making memories and building connections, our first VIPs had a great time!

5th Graders Are Off to Camp!
Our 5th graders are headed to Camp Michindoh for an exciting week of learning, adventure, teamwork, and making memories!
Set among 250 beautiful acres of rolling hills, wetlands, and a private spring-fed lake, Michindoh offers our students opportunities to try new things, challenge themselves, work together, and enjoy the great outdoors.
A week at camp wouldn't be complete without some great food! The buffet-style dining is just one more part of the Michindoh experience.
We can't wait to hear about all of the adventures, laughs, challenges, and memories when our Bulldogs return! Have an amazing week, 5th graders!

Today, Morenci Police Chief Adams presented fourth-grader Kamdyn Lester with an Honorary Police Member Certificate in recognition of his outstanding safety leadership, exceptional support of his peers, and dedication to helping keep others safe. Congratulations, Kamdyn! 👏

Following the assembly, students took a field trip to the library, where Ms. Leddy shared a story, and each class participated in a hands-on activity. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to explore their local library and get excited about reading all summer long.
We are fortunate to have such a great resource right here in our community, and we encourage families to take advantage of this free summer program. After designing their own monsters earlier this spring, each kindergartener received a custom-made stuffie made by one of our 8th graders. Our 8th grade students spent weeks sewing and bringing the kindergarteners' imaginative drawings to life.
The smiles on graduation day said it all! We are so proud of our 8th graders for helping create such a memorable experience for our youngest students.
