What an incredible accomplishment for our Bulldogs! 🎶

At the 2026 MSBOA District 8 High School Solo & Ensemble Festival in Tecumseh, Harrison Sarnac and Sean Sawyer each earned a Division I (Superior) rating — the highest possible score — on their solo performances.

With their blue medal ratings, both students have officially qualified for the MSBOA State Solo & Ensemble Festival on April 18 at Onsted High School.

We are so proud of their hard work, dedication, and musical excellence. Way to represent Morenci with Bulldog Pride! 🐾💙

We’d like to extend a big thank you to Mrs. McDowell from the WesBanco branch in Morenci for stopping by our Financial Literacy classes to speak with students about preparing for banking after high school.

Her insight into managing accounts, building credit, and making smart financial decisions gave our students practical knowledge they can use as they plan for life beyond graduation.

We appreciate our community partners who help bring real-world learning into the classroom and support our students’ future success.

Our 8th graders recently gained real-world experience through mock interviews designed to prepare them for the workforce.

Volunteers from Align in Adrian, Michigan, generously gave their time to interview students and provide valuable feedback on communication skills, professionalism, and first impressions. This hands-on opportunity helped students better understand what to expect in future job interviews and how to present themselves with confidence.

Experiences like this support our mission to graduate students with strong academics, character, and career awareness, who will positively impact society.

Thank you to our community partners for investing in our Bulldogs’ future. 🐾

🍽️ Bulldog Academics in Action🍽️
Mrs. Grondin’s 7th-grade students recently took on a MasterChef-style classroom challenge that blended academic skills with hands-on learning. Working in small groups, students planned a meal, developed a budget, created a grocery list, and prepared their dish in the cooking lab.

From hibachi and chicken alfredo to breakfast bagels, tacos, steak, and asparagus, students demonstrated creativity while applying math, planning, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Seeing students work together, supporting one another, sharing ideas, and problem-solving as a team, was truly rewarding. The smiles, laughter, and collaboration throughout the class are what make this project so special each year and one students genuinely look forward to.

This experience emphasizes financial literacy, teamwork, and practical life skills, key components of a well-rounded Bulldog education.

A special thank you to the LCEF grant for supporting this engaging academic opportunity and helping bring real-world learning into the classroom.

Great work, Bulldogs!

🎨🌲 After learning the elements of landscape and fine-detail acrylic painting, our students completed their ornaments for the Downtown Development Authority Tree, which were proudly on display at Wakefield Park throughout the month of December.
Fitting so much detail into such a small space was no easy task — but they rose to the challenge beautifully! We love seeing Morenci creativity shine through this community collaboration. 💙🐾

Miss Whaley’s 3rd and 7th hour students took on an exciting hands-on learning experience this week as they dissected sheep brains to deepen their understanding of the nervous system. 🐑💡

Students explored the different parts of the brain, compared animal and human brain structures, and discovered how the nervous system gathers and processes information throughout the body. While a few thought the process was a little gross, they loved the responsibility of using sharp tools with precision and identifying key structures.

Our Bulldogs were engaged, curious, and eager to learn something new through this unique science activity. 🐾❤️

🍪 BAKE FOR A CAUSE SUCCESS! 🧁
Our Middle School math students in Mrs. Grondin’s class took on the Bake for a Cause Challenge, and they absolutely rose to the occasion!

To complete this project, students had to:
📘 Find a recipe
➗ Calculate ingredient amounts
💲 Stay within a budget
🍽️ Bake their treats
🎁 Package them for sale

Not only did they put their consumer-based math skills to the test, but they practiced teamwork, problem-solving, and responsibility every step of the way.

Here’s what our students had to say about the experience:
✨ “Everyone shared really well, and we were all productive.”
✨ “There wasn’t any arguing; people from other groups helped each other.”
✨ “It was really fun, and everyone took care of their area.”
✨ “We had to change our recipe a little, and it still turned out good.”

Their teamwork paid off in more ways than one! Our 8th graders raised $210, which they are proudly donating to the Morenci Nightlight program. 💛

Mrs. Grondin shared, “Thank you, Morenci Education Foundation, for allowing our 8th graders to combine their consumer-based math skills and teamwork traits in an effort to raise money for a local non-profit. It is incredible to see them work together to reach a goal… I admit that I got choked up as I watched them help one another throughout the process. This year’s 8th-grade team raised $210 and is donating their profits to our Morenci Nightlight program. I am SO proud of them and SO thankful to you for funding our Bake For A Cause event.”

👏 A huge THANK YOU to Morenci Education Foundation for making this hands-on learning opportunity possible, and an even bigger shoutout to our incredible students for baking with purpose and heart.
